How to prepare for the board exams

How to prepare for the board exams

There are always means and ways to counter the anxiety. Some of these are as mentioned below:
First and foremost a sound sleep a night before the examination is a must.
Always keep a balanced diet during the exams and take more of liquids at regular intervals.
Avoid intake of too much coffee and tea during the exams as they decrease the efficiency of the body.
If possible, involve yourself in outdoor games for short periods to break the monotony and refresh your body.
Do not revise any new topic on the day of the examination.
On receipt of the question paper read it carefully and mark the questions which you can answer confidently. Do not fret over the questions which you feel you don't know how to answer.
Always start answering the question paper with the question which you are confident about.
Answer all the difficult and complex question during the middle of the examination as once you solve first few questions your stress levels are reduced and even the difficult questions can be easily answered.
Do not spend more than 20-25 minutes on 1 mark questions, 50 -60 minutes on 4 mark questions and 60-70 minutes on 6-mark questions.
Generally, the question paper is designed for about 2 hours and 30 minutes and is targeted towards an average student.
Do revise the solutions at the end.
Do not leave any question unanswered.
Answer all the sub-parts of a question at one place.
Write the answers legibly with the formula at each place wherever needed.
Always put the final statement as the answer statement as required by the question.
Keep numbering the supplementary sheets and tag them carefully.

SOME SPECIFIC TIPS
Solve all the sample papers and last three years’ question papers carefully to keep yourself updated with the current format.
While practising at home you should have a sitting for about three to four hours. If needed, take short breaks of five to ten minutes.
Keep revising formula whenever you get time apart from regular study.
Manage your speed by practising sample papers and previous years' question papers.
While solving questions on system of equations using matrix method, always comment on the nature of solution by means of calculating determinant of the coefficient matrix.
While solving questions on properties of determinants try making two of the three entries in any one row or column zeros by means of properties.
While solving problems on application of derivatives (maxima – minima) always test the result by means of second derivative.
Approach the indefinite integration problems by means of type. Solve four to five questions of each type to have a command over the concept.
In the problems on definite integration do not forget to change the limits of integration if using the substitution method.
It is always advantageous to draw a rough sketch in order to conceptualise the given problem.
While solving problems on probability always define the events to be used clearly.
While solving problems on linear programming, use maximum of the graph paper in drawing the first quadrant as the answer will lie in the first quadrant.
Students should revise NCERT thoroughly (exercises along with solved examples)
Read the question paper properly. l Students should not panic thinking about questions they don't know instead they should attempt questions they know properly.
Paper should be done in an order, i.e, Section A,B,C or Section C,B,A.
Every question in the paper should be attempted.
The graph in LPP question should be drawn neatly and the corner points should be clearly marked.
Question pertaining to distance, area and volume should have proper units mentioned in the answer (units, square units and cubic units).
In Application of derivatives and Application of Integrals questions, figure should be drawn with a pencil with proper labeling.
Formula should be mentioned wherever needed specially in 3D Geometry, Probability,Application of Derivatives (Maxima/Minima Problems) and Vectors
The existence of Inverse of a matrix should be mentioned in the Matrix method question.
Students should carefully do the question based on Elementary Transformation in Matrices using either Row *OR* Column Transformation and not *BOTH*.
ECONOMICS
Economics can be one of the scoring subjects for the students appearing the Class XII examination. The students should keep in mind the following while preparing for the exam:
Whenever you are solving any numerical, ensure that you write the formula first and then show the working.
l If Net Current Transfers to Abroad are given, then Net Current Transfer from Abroad can be obtained by reversing the sign. For ex: If Net Current Transfers to Abroad are 20, then Net Current Transfer from Abroad would be -20.
In National Income Accounting, be careful about – Net Factor Income to Abroad. If its value is, say, -10. (Remember to change the sign of the numerical value, i.e., Net Factor Income from Abroad would be +10).
If the Value of a.Depreciation is not given directly, check if gross capital formation and net capital formation are given, then:
i.Depreciation = Gross Capital Formation – Net Capital Formation.
b.Depreciation can also be calculated if Gross National Disposable Income & Net National Disposable Income are given, then:
i.Depreciation = Gross National Disposable Income – Net National Disposable Income
Remember that if sales and exports are given, exports are not to be included in calculating the value of output, as it is already included in sales. But if Domestic Sales and Exports are given, then exports are to be included along with domestic sales for calculating the value of output.
Do not include purchase of machines to calculate intermediate consumption as they are capital goods, which are final and not intermediate goods.
Whenever any aggregate and its sub-component are mentioned, don’t include both (to avoid double-counting). For example, if both profits and undistributed profits are provided, then undistributed profits are not to be included as it is a component of profits and including both would amount to double counting.
If both purchase of raw material and import of raw material are given then intermediate consumption would not include import of raw material as it is already included in purchase of raw material.
While making any graphs see that you properly labeled the variables you took on the two axes.
Some of the important and relative easy topics which you must prepare well are - Central Economic Problems; Determinants of Demand & Supply; Market Forms; Determination of Equilibrium Price; Money & Banking; and Budget.
You can give your answers in the form of Bullet points wherever possible, instead of long paragraphs.
Your presentation should be neat, underline Headings & Key Words. But avoid underlining too many words in the explanation.
Try not to break the sequence in which you answer the questions, though you may choose to answer in ascending or descending order.
You should go through the sample papers issued by the CASE.
Be precise in attempting the One Mark Questions, these must be answered in one line only.

During the reading time, read the question paper thoroughly and carefully. Also decide about the choice questions and have the answers of the indirect questions ready in your mind.
It’s very important to complete the paper. You must attempt all the questions.
All the best for your exam!
Sociology
Stick to the syllabus prescribed by CASE. There should be optimum utilization of 15 minutes given for reading the question paper. Try to understand what has been asked in the question and prioritize order of answering the various questions.
Do not leave any question unattempted; as chances are there that you may end up giving some relevant points.
Highlight or underline the important points. Write the headings followed by explanation. If you forget the heading underline the important sentence within the explanation as every value point carries one mark each.
If you get stuck on any question, then go on to the next question and attempt the same later. Be neat in presentation of your answer.
Don’t do selective study as only comprehensive study will help. Concepts like Globalisation, Caste and Tribes should be prepared comprehensively so that you are able to present them in consolidated way while tackling the ‘long answer’ questions.
Only after completion of the syllabus solve the sample papers. You must also refer to CASE sample papers.
